Healthcare Simulation Research Symposium

The Healthcare Simulation Research Symposium supports excellence in healthcare simulation education and research. The symposium will be held on Sept. 16, 2025. This year's theme is Mastering the Future: Building Expertise with Simulation.

Keynote Speaker

The keynote features Penni Watts, Ph.D., RN, CHSE-A, FNAP, ANEF, FSSH, FAAN, the associate dean for technology and innovation at the University of Alabama School of Nursing. Watts oversees all simulation programs in her role. She has been instrumental in the integration of clinical simulation experiences as well as interprofessional simulation experiences across multiple programs on campus. Watts is a fellow in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, holds a certification as a certified health care simulation educator-advanced, and has 18 years of simulation experience with training from the Center for Medical Simulation and the Debriefing Academy. She was the previous chair of the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Learning Standards Committee and the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced Subcommittee for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. She currently is the associate editor of clinical simulation in nursing.
