Guest pianist to hold masterclasses at º£½ÇÖ±²¥app

The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts will host a series of piano performances over the next week, with an award-winning musician sharing his talent with students and the public.
Pianist Michael Seregow, assistant teaching professor of music at Ball State University, will visit campus Thursday, March 20, to present a solo recital titled, “A Changing World: Maurice Ravel and His Contemporaries.†The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Founders Recital Hall of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
Seregow is a native of the Pacific Northwest and enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, teacher and recording artist.
“Winner of The American Prize in chamber music performance, a national competition in the performing arts, Seregow maintains an active performance career, performing a wide-ranging selection of repertoire spanning from the late renaissance through works by composers of today,†Seregow’s website says. “A musician of uncommon versatility, he has also received formal training in a variety of keyboard instruments other than piano including harpsichord, fortepiano and organ, in addition to studies in jazz piano, basso continuo, historical performance practice and composition.â€
On Friday, March 21, º£½ÇÖ±²¥app students will receive valuable live performance tips in masterclasses hosted by Seregow from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
“º£½ÇÖ±²¥app pianists are excited to benefit from the unique perspective and fresh ears that a visiting artist provides,†said Mark Stevens, assistant professor of piano at º£½ÇÖ±²¥app. “The opportunity for us to work with a musician of Dr. Seregow’s caliber is hugely beneficial as we prepare for our annual studio recital, and his recital program promises to be thrilling from start to finish.â€
The public is invited back to Founders Recital Hall on Monday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. for the annual piano recital presented by the º£½ÇÖ±²¥app piano studio. The concert is free and open to the public.
